Buildings consume 39% of all energy used in the US

Buildings also produce 38% of US carbon dioxide emissions, and consume 72% of electricity.  Green building can reduce the environmental footprint of buildings through resource and energy efficiency, the use of environmentally friendly materials and construction practices, and environmentally sensitive design and site selection.

The Bloomington Commission on Sustainability, the Bloomington Environmental Commission, the Bloomington Historic Preservation Commission, Earthcare, and the South Central Indiana Chapter of the U.S. Green Building Council have all teamed together to promote the principles of green building in Bloomington.

Learn how people all over the area are already striving for sustainability by incorporating green building into their homes and businesses.
